2024 AWCON Qualifiers: Ghana trounce Rwanda 12-0 on aggregate to advance to final stage of qualifiers
Ghana’s senior women’s national team, Black Queens compounded the misery of Rwanda’s Amavubis with a 5-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 to secure a slot in the final stage of qualifiers to Morocco 2024.
The Black Queens had earlier marshaled a 7-0 advantage at Kigali last Wednesday and finished off the two legged tie with 5-0 victory with six different scorers involved over the two legged affair.
Fernabahce star, Alice Kusi’s first half hat-trick, her first in a Black Queens shirt, ensured Ghana maintained the dominance in the two legged tie with a first half 4-0 victory.
Evelyn Badu added another inside the first half to round a dominant half up for the Coach Nora Hauptel and her charges.
The second half saw introduction of several new faces into the game with Grace Acheampong, Gifty Assifuah, Vivian Konadu Agyemang, Linda Eshun brought on to have game time.
Stellar Nyamekye scored her first senior team goal following her promotion from the Black Princesses to the Black Queens to make the tie 5-0 and 12-0 on aggregate and became the sixth different scorer for the Black Queens.
Alice Kusi scored four times followed by Evelyn Badu and Anasthesia Achia who scored three and two respectively; Doris Boaduwaa, Princella Adubea and Stella Nyamekye.
Ghana will meet Namibia over a two legged tie to stand a chance of returning to the biennial African Women’s Cup of Nations 2024 to be hosted by Morocco after missing out on the previous edition.
