Ghana’s Kamal Sowah joins Standard Liege on a season-long deal
Ghanaian forward Kamal Sowah has joined Standard Liege on a season-long deal from Belgian club Club Brugge.
The club’s official X (previously Twitter) page announced the transfer which is a loan acquisition of the Black Stars winger from rival club Club Brugge in the top flight. At the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, the agreement enables the transition to become permanent.
The Stade Maurice Dufrasne team indicated the agreement with the Ghanaian player could be made permanent.
Fergal Harkin, Director of Football at Standard Liege, spoke upon Sowah’s signing and was keen to highlight the contributions Sowah will make to the team.
“Kamal will strengthen our offensive sector and increase competition within the group. His experience in the Belgian championship, his technical and physical qualities, his speed and his percussion will be additional assets for our team”he said.

Before going to OH Leuven on loan from 2018 to 2021, Sowah began his professional career at Leicester City, where he scored 11 goals in 63 games. In 2021, he was a member of Club Brugge.
In a pre-World Cup friendly matchup against Switzerland in Abu Dhabi, Kamal Sowah made his first and only appearance for the Ghana Black Stars.
