Callum Hudson Odoi opens up on possible Ghana switch
Nottingham Forest winger, Hudson Odoi has left the door open as he considers his options regarding international football.
According to Callum Hudson-Odoi, he has the option of playing for Ghana as he waits for his first call-up to the Gareth Southgate-led England side.
Hudson-Odoi told Telegraph when questioned about his prospects in international football”That decision hasn’t been made yet. I’m still thinking it over. Ghana is a very good option but let’s wait and see.”
He further elaborated, saying, “Hopefully, once I start playing games here, maybe Gareth [Southgate] or Ghana will come. It’s a nice position to be in, and hopefully, sooner or later, we will know.”
Odoi just transferred from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest after an unsuccessful loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.The winger hopes to use the current Premier League season to resurrect both his faltering professional career and international football in general.
Odoi is still eligible to play for the Black Stars despite having made three appearances for England since his debut in 2017.
Callum Hudson-Odoi visited Ghana two years ago and met with President Nana Akufo-Addo, who gave the Sports Minister the order to facilitate his transition of allegiance to Ghana.
Current Black Stars head coach has also reiterated efforts made in the past to convince Hudson Odoi to switch his international allegiance to Ghana.
