Women’s AFCON Qualifiers: Queens annihilate Amavubi 7-0 in first leg
Ghana’s Black Queens trounced the Amavubi’s of Rwanda 7-0 in the Women’s African Cup of Nations Qualifiers first leg on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Kigali Stadium.
Coach Nora Hauptle paraded a strong side for the Queens who found themselves in the lead with just three minutes into the game. Doris Boaduwaa rose highest to pounce on a Portia Boakye corner to give Ghana the lead.
The second goal was as a result of a carefully tailored pass by Jennifer Cudjoe which was well controlled by Evelyn Badu and easily tapping in for the cushioning for Ghana.
The half was rounded up with a cross from Justice Tweneboah which was well met by former Ampem Darkoa Ladies team mate Princella Adubea to give Ghana a 3-0 lead before the break.
The second half began at the same fashion as the first with Ghana sending the right signal as Evelyn Badu, the reigning CAF Young Player of the Year adding to her first half strike.
Alice Kusi made it 5-0 following an impressive inter passes with Doris Boaduwaa.
Anasthesia Achia added her name to the score cards with a trademark effort when her lobbed strike went over the head of everyone for the game’s 6th goal.
Achia added another with an outstanding lob from the far corner again receiving a pass from Doris Boaduwaa to make the game 7-0.
Ghana will host the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium in the next window to cement a place in the next phase of the qualifiers.
