264 artisans graduate in GNPC, Aseda Foundation Skilled Artisan Project

264 persons graduated in the 2023 Ghana National Petroleum Commission Foundation  and Aseda Foundation Skilled Artisan Project held at the Takoradi Technical University Auditorium on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

400 total number were skilled artisans enrolled for this batch of Aseda Foundation Skilled Artisan Project with 264 successfully graduating in areas such as Dressmaking, hairdressing, mechanic, tailoring, welding among others.

Dressmakers had the most numbers contributing 114, followed by 54 hairdressers and others. All 264 graduates were in attendance alongside their supporting family and well wishers; others were dignitaries in the Western Region gracing the occasion.

President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II chaired the event, Paramount Chief of Essikado Ketan Traditional Area, Nana Kobina  Nketia V,  Municipal Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Honorable Abdul Mumin Issah, Executive Director of GNPC Dr. Dominic Eduah graced the occasion.

Background

Ms. Diana Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of Aseda Foundation instituted the idea of a foundation to train artisans in any area of choice.

The initiative which began in 2018 with the idea of helping the needy through craftsmanship such as; fabrication, hairstyling, sewing, artisan, welding among others.

Through their fine efforts; Ghana National Petroleum Commission’s philanthropic umbrella GNPC Foundation has been a partner and therefore elevated the initiative wherefore graduates secure National Vocational Technician Institute certification as well as tools and equipment for graduates to set up their own businesses afterwards.
