Iraola praises Semenyo heroic performance against Liverpool
Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has earned praise from his boss at AFC Bournemouth, Iraola, after his perfect, heroic start to the 2023–2024 English Premier League season.
The 23-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed by his new boss either, with his contributions so far this season finding praise from Iraola as the Spaniard spoke to a journalist in training prior to their next game.
The 41-year-old and former Rayo Vallecano coach was happy about the Ghanaian’s work rate.
“Antoine was very good this past week.” “The minutes he played, I think he gave good energy to the team. He pushed a lot, he finished really, really tired.”

He added: “I think this is what we expect from our wingers and our forward players—to give everything they have” – as quoted by several outlets.
Antoine Semenyo has impressed in his two appearances since returning from injury. As a substitute against West Ham, he played a key role in Solanke’s equalizer in the 82nd minute, and he opened the scoring at Anfield.
In his first start of the season, the winger registered three shots on goal, with two on target, the most of any Bournemouth player, and, of course, found the back of the net after just three minutes.
Semenyo also had the joint highest amount of progressive carries of any Bournemouth player with two, carrying the ball a total of 69 yards towards goal, more than any of the side’s front four.
Bournemouth face Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, August 26, for an afternoon kick-off.
