Anthony Baffoe confident Ghana qualify from group stage
Anthony Baffoe, a former Black Stars defender has predicted the Black Stars will advance from its group at the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
He insisted that despite the recent poor performances by the Black Stars at tournaments, there is a great chance of the team topping their group.
“I’m confident that we will emerge first or second in the group. In our last tournament in Cameroon, we didn’t perform well but generally we are a tournament team.”
In Group B of the 2023 AFCON, the Black Stars of Ghana will compete against record-holders Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
“We still have experienced players like Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew and Kudus who is the superstar in the team. We are stabilized with our goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi,” he said.
The 34th AFCON is slated to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Ghana’s campaign will get underway against Cape Verde on January 14 then they will play Egypt and Mozambique in that order.
