Asenso-Boakye Triumphs as Ghana’s Best Minister for Infrastructure Development in 2023

The Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has been honoured with the distinguished award of “Ghana’s Best Minister for Infrastructure Development” in 2023. This recognition is a tribute to his contributions to the enhancement of infrastructure, particularly in the domains of housing and public works, since he assumed his role as Minister in 2021.

The Minister received the award at the Ghana Chamber of Construction’s 2023 Awards for Industrial Players, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

During the event, Asenso-Boakye reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development in the nation. He emphasized that the government is actively fostering an environment conducive to private sector investment. He also highlighted the advantages of public-private partnerships (PPP) in addressing the country’s infrastructural needs, noting that the private sector contributes not only financial resources but also innovation, expertise, and efficiency, all crucial for the successful execution of projects.

In recognition of this, he pointed out that in 2020, the Ghanaian government enacted Public Private Partnership Act 1039, aimed at streamlining regulations, reducing bureaucracy, and enhancing the framework to boost confidence among private sector entities and attract the necessary capital for infrastructure projects.

Upon receiving the award, Minister Asenso-Boakye expressed his gratitude by saying, “When your work is acknowledged, it serves as a powerful motivator to work even harder. I must say, this award will serve as a significant source of inspiration for both myself and my team to redouble our efforts.”
