Dreams play 1-1 with Kallon Stars to secure historic group stage on maiden CAF CC campaign
Dreams FC and Kallon FC of Sierra Leone split the spoils in the second leg of the second preliminary round in the CAF Confederations Cup group stage decider.
In their first competition appearance, the Ghanaian team held Kallon to a 1-1 draw to qualify for the group stage. Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored after three minutes through a penalty.
Kallon Stars responded after four minutes to make the score 1-1 but the equalizer was not enough to give the home side qualification as Dreams FC started the second leg with a 2-1 advantage secured two weeks earlier in Ghana to win the match 3-2 on aggregate.
After Asante Kotoko in 2019 under C.K Akunnor, Dreams FC is the second Ghanaian team to advance to the group stage of the competition.
For the first since 2006, Ghana will have representatives in the group stages of the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup after Medeama also beat Horoya 4-3 on aggregate to reach the Champions League group stage.
