Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Lions share spoils at Baba Yara Stadium

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club were held to a goalless draw by Hearts of Lions in the opening game of the betPawa Premier League on late kick off on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum’s return to the touch line for the Porcupines was not like his first under the erstwhile management which saw him secure a 3-1 victory on the road against Dreams Football Club.

The Porcupines despite posing as the favorite going into the tie and playing at their own backyard had it at the back of their minds that Lions had won three of their last five meetings.

The tie was as close as was predicted by many and so did it ended with neither side able to find the back of the net.

Hearts of Lions moment of unluckiness was when a rebound was turned in perfectly only for the assistance referee one, Gilbert Adom Mensah to flag for an offside.

Asante Kotoko will be playing Bibiani Gold Stars on match day two at the Duns Park on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Hearts of Lions will play first home game against against Accra Great Olympics on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Dates for the following fixtures are subject to change due to live telecast.
