Ghana Premier League: GoldStars secure first win against Asante Kotoko

Bibiani GoldStars secured their first win against Asante Kotoko after five meetings following a dramatic 2-1 win at the Duns Park on match day two of the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League.

The Porcupines failed for the second time to secure a win in the new season after sharing the spoils against Hearts of Lions on match day one.

Gold Stars made amends for their 2-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea to secure all three points against Asante Kotoko after failing to do so in their four previous meetings.

After a rather silent first half where both teams failed to turn chances into goals or create opportunities to enable a change of the score cards; the second half rather produce three with the home side getting the better of the cake.

Prince Owusu scored on the 67th to send the entire place in a state of chaos but four minutes later Sherif Mohammed produced a leveler for the visitors to bring the game to 1-1.

Eric Bosomtwe restored the lead for the Bibiani-based side to cue pandemonium at the Dun’s Park in a blistering fashion that was enough to let all the points stay at Bibiani.

Asante Kotoko will wait till their next encounter with Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium to find a way to secure points from a game this season.
