Ghanaian duo inspire Crystal Palace to EFL Cup victory
Crystal Palace defeated Plymouth 4-2 after a comeback thanks to a fantastic display by Ghanaian combo Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp, who came off the bench.
In round two of the 2023–24 EFL Cup on Tuesday at Home Park, the Premier League team had to rally from two goals down to win 4–2.
After only six minutes, Crystal Palace was down by a goal after Plymouth Argyle’s Ben Waine scored the game’s first goal.
Plymouth led the match by one goal when the game entered halftime.
Luke Cundle’s second goal for Plymouth just one minute after the break stunned the Premier League team even more.

Then, 10 minutes into the second half, Roy Hodgson responded by bringing in several of his star players, including Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp.
Four minutes after coming in, Jordan assisted Edsonne Edouard to restore parity for the visitors in the 59th minute, and Mateta then scored another goal for Plymouth to make it 2-2.
After receiving another assist from Jeffrey Schlupp, Mateta scored again in the 62nd minute to bring the score to 3-2.
With an assist from Eze, Mateta completed his hat trick in the 83rd minute to make the score 4-2.
After securing the victory, Crystal Palace has advanced to the third round of the EFL Cup.
