Ophelia Amponsah’s goal secure 1-0 win for Ampem Darkoa in WAFU WCL Final

Ghana’s Champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies Football Club have beaten Nigeria’s Delta Queens to the sole slot available in the West Africa Football Union Zone B Women’s Champions League.

The Nana Adarkwa led team secured a 1-0 win at the Benin City, Nigeria on Thursday, August 31, 2023 to secure the slot over the Nigerian Champions. Ophelia Amponsah scored the only goal of the game as the Ghanaian side picked up the win in the final after 90+5 minutes.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will now represent the WAFU Zone B at the Confederation of African Football Women’s Champions League to be played later this year.

It is the second time a Ghanaian side will be making the tournament in three years. Hasaacas Ladies were silver-medalists in the maiden edition while the second edition saw no Ghanaian representation after Ampem Darkoa lost the final of the WAFU tournament to Bayelsa Queens.
