Tariq Lamptey crucial in Brighton’s 2-2 draw with Olympic Marseille

Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey, featured in Brighton and Hove Albion’s UEFA Europa League Round 2 game against Olympic Marseille.

Lamptey was deployed as a left back despite being a natural right back by Head Coach Roberta De Zerbi but the new role did not stop him from flourishing.

Brighton fought back to draw 2-2 with Marseille after they scored two goals in one minute through Mbemba and Vertout on the 19th and 20th minute.

In the second half Pascal Gross pulled one goal back to make the score 2-1.

Two minutes to stoppage time,Tariq Lamptey was fouled in the penalty box and Joao Pedro scored the penalty awarded to Brighton to grab a point for his team to make the score 2-2.

After the game, Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi told the media that he intends to rest Tariq Lamptey in the coming days considering his level of importance to the team.He added that he doesn’t mind playing him out of position because he always performs well.

Tariq Lamptey played full 90 minutes and was rated 7.5.
