Taylor wants André Ayew, Wakaso’s return to Black Stars
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko veteran Charles Taylor has campaigned for the inclusion of Andre Ayew and Mubarak Wakaso in the Black Stars squad before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Charles Taylor, Chris Hughton made an error of leaving Ayew off the squad in the international friendlies and that should not be repeated. He added that Wakaso’s must be recalled to the Black Stars.
“Andre Ayew should always be part of the Black Stars whether he has a club or not and we need Wakaso back in the team urgently,” Charles Taylor said on Angel TV.
In the international friendlies against Mexico and the United States, Andre Ayew, the team’s captain, was left off the roster.Mubarak Wakaso on the other hand has been absent from the Black Stars since the team’s dismal showing at 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
Next month, the Black Stars will play again in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros after two consecutive defeats to Mexico and the USA.
