Thugs attack United Showbiz program in search for A Plus

Irate persons appeared to have come to the studio with the intention of confronting Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, a regular panelist on the program.

Videos uploaded to social media showed a frantic situation inside the UTV studio with many guys yelling for A Plus.

“We are waiting for A Plus today… A Plus has to explain to us why he tore our paper from the NPP party. We are here, we are waiting for A Plus. We are protecting our party property,” one of the men is heard shouting in the studio.

On September 30, 2023, musician and activist Kwame A Plus used live television to mock a letter that the NPP had sent to the UTV management, demanding changes to the United Showbiz show the reason behind the attack on UTV.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest of about 16 people who broke into the Accra-based United Television studios and caused a transmission break. Later, the program resumed airing.

The arrests, according to the police, were made in response to a complaint on an alleged invasion of the studio premises by a group of people made by the Despite Media Group, the owners of UTV, and the Ministry of Information.

Most social media users and influential individuals including Presidential aspirant Mr.Alan Kyerematen condemned the act.
