“We played against a good side but we took our chances” – Medeama SC Coach Evans Adotey

Medeama Sporting Club coach Augustine Evans Adotey has refuted claims that his team had a much easy side in Horoya AC as compare to when they met Remo Stars of Nigeria after the Ghanaian Champions defeated the Guinean side by 3:1 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the final round preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.

Goals from substitute Nana Kofi Babil, center back Nurudeen Abdulai and captain Kofi Asmah were enough to seal victory for the Ghanaian side.

Speaking to press after the game, the experience gaffer Evans Adotey described his opponent as a good team but his boys took their chances as compared to their game against Remo Stars of Nigeria.

“We shouldn’t create the impression that we have beaten Horoya AC 3-1 so they are a weak side, they are a very good side. Honestly speaking if I compare Horoya AC to Remo Stars, Remo Stars came in physically, they were running, pushing and challenging.

“Whatever, the physical ability was there unlike this team but we could see this team was not too much technical but you could see they were able to put passes together, they could circulate, switch the ball from one end to the other, you could see even in the last 15 minutes we were desperate although”

“We were under pressure from all the counter attacks from them[Horoya AC] so I will say we played against a good side but we took our chances unlike the other time we couldn’t create a lot of chances like we did today”.

Medeama Sc will travel to Conakry to play Horoya in the second leg on the weekend of September 27-30, 2023 for a place in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League Group Stage.
