Bukari’s goal not enough as City respond with 3

Osman Bukari’s first half strike at the Etihad Stadium for Red Star Belgrade on the opening day of the Union of European Football Association’s Champions League was not enough as Manchester City conjured magic in the second half to overturn the deficit for a 3-1 win.

The Ghanaian forward after one of the quietest of nights for the Serbian side opened the score cards with his side’s first threat at goal to end the first half 1-0 to the Visitors at the dreadful Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s men responded as expected just two minutes after both teams returned from the tunnel when Argentine forward, Julian Alvarez combined with Erling Haaland for the game’s leveler.

The World Cup winner scored his first brace in the competition when he curled a free kick from some distant out to give the English side and UEFA Champions League holders the lead.

Manchester City doubled their lead and took the game off the Red Star Belgrade when Rodri followed up with a well timed strike from a distance out to end the game 3-1.

The Black Stars forward saw his first half strike turned into a mere consolation strike in the end.
