Chief of Atobiase makes passionate appeal to GNPC for Senior High School
Nana Kweku Bukru II, the Chief of Atobiase has made a passionate appeal to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation for a Senior High School in the town following the commissioning of a six unit classroom block at the Atobiase DA Basic School on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
In his speech delivered during the commissioning of the Basic Classroom Block, Nana Kweku Bukru II said, it is very difficult for parents from the town to afford sending their wards to Senior High School and called on GNPC Foundation to assist with one that can be easily assessable to people of Atobiase.
Nana Kweku Bruku II in his speech applauded the students of the town for their consistent efforts to do better despite having limited resources and infrastructure.
“I have a plea and I’ve to stand and look in the eyes of the GNPC rep before I make this request. My town needs a secondary school, the students here are traveling far to continue their education and some even don’t get the chance to do so because the parents don’t get the chance to do so.
“We plead that you assist us with one, I think it about time.
“All the 160 students that sat for the Basic Examination Certificate Exams passed the last time and we had 13 attaining the top grades. We have vast land and ready to give it off for the construction of a secondary school.
“If they were able to do that in the old defected building then surely they can do better in this new one, but more importantly, we want to groom them here and not have to resort to other towns for senior high education” – he said.
The project which commenced somewhere 2021 was completed in January 2023 as disclosed by
The new six unit classroom block has a seating capacity of 216 seats with each of the six classrooms having two sealing fans, and has an electrical installation to help with studies even at dark time.
