I went to tertiary to fulfill a promise to my late father – Amerado

Ghanaian Rapper Amerado says pursuing tertiary education was a fulfilment of a promise to his late father.

According to the ace rapper his time in tertiary helped him expand his fan base as stated in an interview with Nana Ama Shancy on Spice FM’s “Ofie ne Fie” program.

“Going to tertiary was a promise to my father.Another reason was to gather some fan base and also for my personal knowledge too” – he stated.

He claimed that there is life after music and for that matter he had to gain further knowledge for himself.He also pointed out that he has found the right balance of fame while living life as a student even though it was difficult from the beginning.

“Then again I needed the knowledge to build me as a young champ. The third reason is to build an audience in there because people in the university are a lot and not all artiste get the chance to be closer to them.

“One way to be closer to them is to be one of them. So I took an advantage of me having a good certificate, bought my forms to go in there to study and gather my fan base”.

The Rapper, who is also a student at the University of Ghana, bemoaned how difficult it is to balance studying and performing music.

He lamented recent performances that fell short of his expectations but were quite acceptable given his challenging background.

Amerado is the reigning VGMA best rapper of the year.
