Black Stars suffer humiliating 4-0 defeat to USA

Ghana suffered a heavy 4-0  and second straight defeat at the hands of the United States of America in an international friendly on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the Geodis Park in Nashville Tennessee after losing 2-0 to Mexico on Sunday.

The Black Stars put up a lackluster showing and were severely punished in a one-sided first half.

Although the Black Stars had the greater part of possession (56 %), it was  the  United States that created and made their chances count as the Black Stars found difficulty in  gaining momentum.

A spectacular 39 minute performance saw the United States put 4 goals past the Black Stars with Reyna netting a double on the 10th and 39th minute and former English Premier League attackers Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun getting the other two goals on the 19th and 22nd minutes respectively.

Both teams began the game with a strong desire to improve upon their historical head-to-head record, with Ghana having won two of the previous four meetings and the United States winning the other two.

The Black Stars will Ghana next month begin  their 2026 World Cup qualifying journey  against Madagascar on  November 13  and Comoros November 21.
